Starting to Get Ready

>> Sunday, February 1, 2009

Friday we graduated from training, though I am sure it will never truly end.  I learned so much from the staff at ITeams and had an incredibly encouraging experience (pictures to come). Even more than that, I was so impressed with my fellow MITs (Missionaries in Training):

Bobby and Rachael-

Both graduates of Moody, they will be working with the extremely impoverished in Seroti, Uganda starting in the Fall of 2009.  They are a beautiful young couple, married 2.5 years, who have recently started raising support after being called to start a mission experience together. Rachael is a teacher and Bobby will be starting a sports ministry.

Marty and Alane-

Experienced missionaries with two teenaged daughters.  Marty is starting as an employee of ITeams as a college ministries networker and facilitator. He will also be recruiting for South American missions.

Brit-

A recent graduate of Taylor University in Indiana.  She will be working in Athens, Greece with victims of the sex trade and prostitution.  She left this morning and will be there for six months.  It was great to have another recent college grad there.

I have been looking over my notes the entire week, trying to figure out what I wanted to share and what I would leave out- and it’s been really hard. I sat in class from 8am to 5pm, and want to post up pretty much every word that has been spoken on each of the topics we have covered. Actually, that’s a lie. There were a couple boring moments.  But there was more that had me fired up than put me to sleep haha. Ugh, how do I even start, and make sure I don’t either sound completely crazy or bore you to death?  So in lu of me basically pasting 18 pages of typed notes, please just ask any questions you might of my experience in training.  I am positive that it will influence my trip, so chances are you will read about things we learned, only as I am experiencing them.  So if there is anything you would like to know, please ask.

Here is the picture that will now be used as my ITeams ID photo.  I am very smily :)

After catching up on sleep and resting my mind for a day, I have now quickly moved onto some practical things, like packing.  Small necessities are taken care of (toothbrush, face wash, etc.), but there is still so much to do. I am not excited to be getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow morning, please pray fast healing after that.  Also, I am going to be heading to the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. Wednesday.  Thought it will be a short trip with us returning Thursday evening, it still will take two full days out of my prep time.  Nonetheless, it is going to be a great experience and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
